Pratibha Syntex Ltd. (PSL) is driven by a strong vision and a deep commitment to organic principles. PSL is the world’s mostly vertically integrated textile manufacturing company offering organic cotton, with their own organic fibre production, spinning, knitting, dyeing and finishing, and apparel manufacturing. The company is based in Indore, India and sells to leading brands in Europe, North America and South Africa.
Pratibha has numerous certifications, including:
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), EKO by Control
Union, Fair Trade by FLO, Oekotex, Soil Association,
WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Apparel Production) and ISO
9001:2000.
The Vasudha Project is a
large-scale organic farming program run by PSL, and covering
55,000 acres of farmland, and will reach up 100,000 acres
by 2010. Over 2700 farmers are involved. The project
grows certified organic cotton to produce premium finished
knit fabrics, as well as food crops. It encourages increased
environmental sensitivity among workers and staff, generates
direct and indirect employment, and ensures the health
and welfare of the farmers and their families.
PSL provides 70 field experts who regularly monitor the fields, train farmers on how to grow quality organic cotton using locally available inputs, and help with the certification process.
